Typography
Typography is a language in itself. Using typefaces with distinct characters, I was able to depict the personality of each word.
Star Wars Motif
The Star Wars franchise has been a key icon in pop culture since the 70's. The Boba Fett helmet and the Jedi Monkey illustrations carry the Star Wars theme in their design.
TShirt Designs
These shirt designs use typography skills and composition to create attractive T-shirts that students at Flagler College would want to wear. The first design is meant for members of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) when they are hosting their monthly Lion's Den event. At this event, students who are in need of groceries can come pick up canned and boxed food for free. The second design is a fun shirt students can wear around campus. It plays on the Wednesday morning Coffee Break event that many students look forward to for a free coffee and doughnut. It's something you would only know about if you are a part of the Flagler College community, making the shirt a cheeky item to wear.
Animal Illustrations
The first vector drawing was made in a "painterly" technique using Illustrator. My focus was to play around with warm colors and their varying shades to make “Charger” look like the adorable yellow lab that he is. The second vector drawing is of a Unicorn. I wanted to create a whimsical piece with bright colors, shadows and highlights to create value.
Self Portrait
Marketing involves storytelling to communicate messages to the public.This piece mimics the works of Rocio Montoya, an artist from Madrid, while adding my personal flare. Recently she has worked with more textual materials by creating surreal collages. By photographing edgy female models and then cutting pieces out of those photos, she can add pieces of nature with different magazine clippings. Her philosophy behind this is to create an aesthetic experience where the female body is in synergy with nature and therefore displays the beauty in it. Although my work is purely designed graphically, I wanted to give the impression that each piece was made of paper by adding white outside strokes and drop shadows. The portrait of myself, in black and white, acts like the frame for all the natural elements around it. Pieces of my face are taken away or displaced to reveal natural elements underneath which exemplifies my personal closeness with nature and the nature’s relationship with the female body.
Working in the field of Digital Marketing, it is important to have graphic design skills in order to create clean and effective display ads. Below are some examples of illustrations I created using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
